Lew Tolstoi
Geboren am 9. September 1828 in Jasnaja Poljana/Tula, gestorben am 20. November 1910 in Astapovo. Tolstoi stammt aus einem alten Adelsgeschlecht. Er wurde schon als neunjähriges Kind Waise; seine Mutter starb 1830, sein Vater 1837. Er studierte von 1844 bis 1847 ohne Abschluß. Von 1851 bis 1856 leistete er Militärdienst. Sein erstes Werk veröffentlichte er 1852. Seit seiner Heirat mit der Tochter eines Moskauer Arztes (1862) lebte er ständig auf dem Gut seines Vaters.
