Custom pre- & suffix applied to selected word

Hi there,

I'm pretty new to Sigil.

Is there a way to create a custom text format that would apply a self-defined pre- and suffix to the selected code or word(s) in the Code View?

As an example:
In the Code View I can select some words and press "Italic" from the menu "Format". That will add the prefix "<i>" as well as the suffix "</i>" to the selected code or words.

So is the a way to do the same, but with a self-defined pre- and suffix?

Yes, the feature you want is called "Clips". There are Clips toolbars to make applying them very easy and a Clips Editor.

Highlight the text you want to wrap and hit the icon of the clip you made.

The Sigil User Guide would be a good place to learn about this.

Absolutely!!
I use Clips all the time, not only to wrap selected text around the highlighted section, but to insert specific text at the cursor.

I did find the "Clip Editor" in the User Guide before, but I missed the trick with the "\1".
This is perfect!

You can also add custom tags to the clip bar. For an example, see this post.
