"Great Experience. Great Value. Enjoy a great reading experience, with a 25% credit towards other Great on Kindle books when you buy the Kindle edition of this book." The credit expires in several months. If you look at another GoK book before that time, underneath the purchase button you will see: You have $x.xx in eligible eBook credits. |

It creates a never-ending purchase impulse cycle. “I’ve got 30 cents in credit, I can’t let it go to waste!” “Now I’ve got 8 cents in credit, let me find another cheap book.”

Three of the four (for now, with a fifth coming in October, and supposedly, according to the UK blurb for the series, eventually six titles in all) titles in Peter Ackroyd's History of England have dropped to $2.99 at Kindle US as part of the Kindle Daily Deal, matched at Kobo US.
Tudors: The History of England from Henry VIII to Elizabeth I Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Tudors-Histor...dp/B00CQYBAUW/ Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/tud...to-elizabeth-i Rebellion: The History of England from James I to the Glorious Revolution, apa in the UK as Civil War: The History of England Volume III Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Rebellion-His...dp/B00J6TV0H8/ Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/reb...ous-revolution Revolution: The History of England from the Battle of the Boyne to the Battle of Waterloo Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/Revolution-Hi...dp/B06XRGB3CD/ Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/revolution-87 I haven't read anything by Ackroyd, who seems to write across a number of genres, although I have picked up the first title in the series, Foundation: The History of England from Its Earliest Beginnings to the Tudors, back when it was on sale. His bio indicates he was elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 1984 and appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2003, though, so I guess he's no slouch . Maybe someone else has read some of his books... |

Salt: A World History is a non-fic with a blissfully short title that I very much enjoyed and learned quite a bit from.
I t is currently on sale at Amazon.com for $1.99 The same author wrote a very nice book about paper as well, but that one is not currently on sale. |

It is fascinating to me how many different things can be made from the very same wood pulp (which is basically cellulose, I think). What the cellulose becomes depends upon how the pulp is _engineered_; how it is engineered depends upon what characteristics that you want from the end product. It can be made into everything from cardboard to toilet paper, paper towels to furniture (yes, _furniture_), stationery to disposable diapers--the list goes on and on. If the authorship of the paper book is as good as this one on salt appears to be, it should a good one. It's going on my wishlist. |
