Broken beyond repair?

Hi guys,

a few months ago my reader DR800 stopped working but I haven't tried to rescue it yet. So here we go.
When I try to recharge it nothing happens at all. The screen is divided into two, almost equal different shades. You can just slighty see the round icon.
Do you know what it could be? Is there maybe a way to fix it? What would you do?

Thanks a lot!

charge it for about an hour with a wall charger (== not from PC USB). Move the switch slider as you do reset and "keep resetting" for 30-40 seconds. Release the slider. Hopefully the device wakes up.
