In my environment, the student's lab computers are x64. The project they are working on is supposed to run on Raspberry Pi 4s. I was volunteered to help testing the cross compile process the students will be using in my "ample" spare time and CPU cycles. I really don't know why it was decided to do this using WSL 2 (Debian) instead of using Linux on the Raspberries though that may have simply been a matter of disk space.

Waiting for my doctor to call to discuss what to do with the antacids I take. I've seen a specialist twice, who recommends keeping an eye on my diet (limit carbonated drinks and fat, spicy and sour food and drinks). He told me to finish my current course of antacids and then talk to the doctor about what to do. I could quit cold turkey, I'll probably get acid reflux for a couple of days, I could get a lower dose or gradually reduce the dose/number of pills.

My throat still isn't completely healed. I still have days when when it bothers me more and there are days it only gets slightly irritated at towards the end of the day.

I'm hoping for a lower dose. I don't want to go back to being on those chewing tablets all the time. I've always had flare ups of acid reflux, especially during stressful times. I've been dealing with my throat/acid reflux for over a year now and it's finally getting better. I'm now at a point where it doesn't take over my daily life.

Also fun is that the documentation of my antacids says that when stopping with it you have to gradually reduce the dose you take. Starting with taking half of the pill. But the antacids come as capsules, which state on the packaging that you have to take them whole.

I got a repeat prescription for two months worth of pills. After that, when I'm ready, I'm getting a prescription for half the dose and if that goes well for a couple of weeks the dose will be halved again for a couple of weeks before I can stop with antacids, hopefully.

After telling the doctor about the Family Thing, she agreed with me that the acid reflux is most likely caused by stress. And she also understands that Covid causes a lot of stress for me (hence the "when I'm ready" before halving the dose). She advised me to book an appointment with her to discuss how to get help with processing all the things that have happened since 2013 (and my previous problems I've had). I had already planned on doing that, but when Covid is mostly over.

Right now I'm preparing for a diamond painting session. I'm going to make a big cup of my favourite tea, get a bowl of snickerdoodle flavoured popcorn and find a new podcast to listen to before setting up my craft table, table easel and lightpad and stick some plastic on a sticky canvas.

Today my sister booked our next vacation. I haven't been away since January 2020 and my sister's last vacation that wasn't stay at home was even longer ago. So we decided to splurge. We've booked an "extra deluxe" cottage for six people. We thought we would save some money by booking a deluxe cottage for four people, but we would save less than €50. And the upgrade is worth that money. We decided to go for two weeks. The first time since high school I have more than one week off!

We're staying fairly close to home, about a 30 minute drive. It's near another park I've stayed at twice. And it's really near the forest we used to go hiking with our grandparents and where my grandmother's ashes are scattered. It's also near a supermarket where we can order online and book a slot for curb side pick up. Hopefully that isn't necessary anymore by then, but it's a good option to have.

The park offers electrical bike rental, we know from experience that it's a hilly area. Our fancy cottage has a washing machine and dryer (a must for a 2 week stay), a Quooker (a fancy tap that can also provide boiling water), "wellness room" with sauna and steam cabin, a wok burner on the stove and some fun electronics. It's hard to plan what we're going to do, since we don't know what's possible in six months time. But we have decided to bring a bunch of board games and plan some hiking trips.

The best thing is to have something to look forward after more than a year of Covid-19. Maybe we're not going to be able to go out sightseeing or going on shopping trips in nearby towns, but we're away and we'll have fun.

LOL...quite literally, my last actual vacation was 1989, last time I was in the Italian Riv.

I did squeeze in a trip to the WEG (Word Equestrian Games), in Kentucky, some years back--while I was on my way to my Grandmother's, who'd passed, to clear out her stuff, distribute her bequests and all that. Not sure that the pre-Grandmother diversion counts as a vacation, really. I had some friends competing at WEG and I wanted to drop by and give 'em some support in their endeavors. :-)

So, enjoy! As some wag said somewhere, "nobody ever died and thought to themselves, 'gee, I wish I'd passed up on more vacations'." Or...words to that effect.

Baking cookies with ready-made cookie dough. A flavour I haven't tried before, "American Cookie", which is a chocolate chip cookie (just the chips are chocolate, not the dough). The double chocolate cookies and cranberry oatmeal are really good, so I wanted to give this flavour a try.

Whilst waiting I'm trying to decide what to watch tonight. I usually watch a couple of movies on Sunday night, but so far I haven't found anything on my to watch lists that I'm in the mood for. So I'll probably find a couple of interesting documentaries to watch on Discovery+

The Chocolate Chip Cookie (with a butter cookie dough, originally called the Butter Drop Do before chocolate was added) is hugely famous over here! It's also called the Tollhouse Cookie, apropos of the location of it's creation, I think. Hope you enjoy it!

I've tried all the Pretenders to the Crown of Chocolate Chipness, and I have yet to find one that consistently and remarkably outdoes the Tollhouse recipes. I mean, the Neiman Marcus cookie, all the rest...as I said, just pretenders to the crown of gooey, buttery, chocolaty goodness.
