Downgrading Calibre

I have been sticking with the current release of Calibre to this point, but I now am finding that a critical plugin does not work with this release at present. The creator of the plugin says to "stick with Calibre 4.23" for now.

I am running 5.50 at this point. Is there a way to run a plugin that works with 4.23, perhaps from the linux terminal window, that will not work in 5.50 itself? If not, how do I downgrade safely to 4.23 until such time as this plugin is updated to work with Calibe 5.x?

Typical steps

Uninstall Calibre 5. It will leave all your library and settings alone.

Download the Calibre 4.23 from https://download.calibre-ebook.com/4.23.0/

And install.

Job done.

For Linux Users

If you are using Linux then go to https://calibre-ebook.com/download_linux and read the section "Reverting to a previous version". This will show you how to do all the work for you
