Nietzsche, Friedrich: Thus Spake Zarathustra, v1, 22 Sept 2007.

Friedrich Nietzsche: Thus Spake Zarathustra
(Also Sprach Zarathustra)
Translator: Thomas Common

Using the prophet Zarathustra as his mouthpiece, Nietzsche argues that God is dead, using pseudo-biblical language.

This also contains the thought-experiment of the Eternal Return. (Suppose that you had to re-live your life repeatedly, forever. Would the prospect be blissful or dreadful? If the latter, why aren’t you doing something more interesting?)

This has an introduction by Nietzsche’s appallingly unpleasant sister, plus some notes in an appendix. It was taken from a PG text file, so I reformatted and restored the italics, adding a TOC and two pictures. Because this contains Nietzsche’s famous line that women should be threatened with a whip, I have used the photograph of Lou Andreas-Salome threatening to flog Nietzsche.

Another all-too-brief thank you, from a new PRS-505 user in Singapore.

I was rather disappointed that I could not find 'Thus Spake Zarathustra' in the Sony classics so am delighted to find it uploaded, since it is a book I read with some difficulty as a teenager many years ago. This allows me in some way to relive those years.

Regards,
Marcus
