Can't detect Cybook Gen 3
I have never been able to get Calibre to detect my Cybook. I have just updated to 0.6.54 since upgrading ubuntu to 10.04(Lucid)
This is the output of calibre-debug -d Devices possibly connected: Cybook Gen 3 / Opus Device Interface, Trying to open Cybook Gen 3 / Opus Device Interface ... failed Opening of the following devices failed <calibre.devices.cybook.driver.CYBOOK object at 0x991926c> Traceback (most recent call last): File "/home/kovid/build/calibre/src/calibre/devices/__init__.py", line 87, in debug File "/home/kovid/build/calibre/src/calibre/devices/usbms/device.py", line 627, in open File "/home/kovid/build/calibre/src/calibre/devices/usbms/device.py", line 597, in open_linux DeviceError: Unable to detect the CYBOOK disk drive. Your kernel is probably exporting a deprecated version of SYSFS. |

Ubuntu's calibre packages break device automounting. uninstall them and install the calibre binary.

Thanks Kovid,
but I was using the binary, from your calibre downloads page. I have had to revert my system to Ubuntu Hardy, because I have the "mouse & keyboard freezing" problem in Lucid, so I will have to reinstall the 0.6.29 version of calibre from sourceforge. I will continue copying my files manually to the Cybook, as ubuntu has no problem recognizing it. Maybe when I get my system back to normal I will have time to try troubleshooting this problem again. I like calibre and I would really like to get it working properly. Thanks for your quick reply. |

Hey.
I'm having the same problem, using the latest binaries on Ubuntu 64bit. Only if no sd card is in my Cybook Gen3, though. Once I insert it Calibre detects it. Mixes up the internal memory and the sd card, so if I export a book to the Reader it ends up on the SD card and vice versa. Also, it shows the free space for the reader on the card A icon (in the tooltips) and the other way round... Not really a big issue, but I usually wouldn't use a SD card if it wasn't for that bug... calibre-debug -d shows (without sd card): Trying to open Cybook Gen 3 / Opus Device Interface ... failed Opening of the following devices failed <calibre.devices.cybook.driver.CYBOOK object at 0x35c68d0> Traceback (most recent call last): File "/home/kovid/build/calibre/src/calibre/devices/__init__.py", line 117, in debug File "/home/kovid/build/calibre/src/calibre/devices/usbms/device.py", line 637, in open File "/home/kovid/build/calibre/src/calibre/devices/usbms/device.py", line 607, in open_linux DeviceError: Unable to detect the CYBOOK disk drive. Your kernel is probably exporting a deprecated version of SYSFS. Might be my device, though. Acts a bit strange lately... Cheers, Makkus |
