Any hope for a Libra BW with a Carta1300 screen?

Hello, new here. I sadly lost my dear Libra 2 and I would like to get a replacement without the main issue I had with it, the loss of contrast caused by the built-in lighting, or at least with better overall contrast. I also hated how a finger rested barely inside the screen over the narrow side of the frame unleashed an avalanche of page turns.

Then I read about the Clara BW with its great new screen and its option to disable turning pages by tappinng, leaving it only to swiping. Unfortunately, I don't think I could get used to its small size, and besides, I loved the wide side for one-hand holding of the Libra.

I hardly care for the dull, sharpness-killing colour of today's e-ink and always found colour highlights silly. I find the Sage too big (I used to have a Forma), heavy (I guess) and expensive, so I hope they reconsider and bring back the B/W Libra with an upgraded screen. How likely do you think that is?

The Libra also supports disabling the tap gesture. You may wish to just buy another one, as there have been no recent FCC filings to indicate Kobo will be launching more models soon. Hopefully we'll see a Libra BW in 2025, but nobody knows for sure.

Just a side note and just a bit related, but officially the "Carta 1300" screen does not exist.
If one goes to E-Ink's webpage, will found no evidence or proof or anything about "Carta 1300".
There is Carta 1200 and 1250, but no 1300.

Yeah, some brands - like Kobo and others - claim that they have "Carta 1300 screen" in some of their devices, but E-Ink being the only manufacturer of these screens the ereader companies are just a sort of resellers. So probably kobo and the others just made this up, so they can show off something new comparable to their previous models.

I'm not seeing a major difference in screen quality between the Libra 2 and Clara BW. I'm very fond of both.

I purchased a Clara BW thinking I would see an improvement to my Libra2. Outside of being able to traverse the interface faster, I so no discernable improvement. Blacks were no blacker. And significantly, at least for me, the background of the Libra 2 could get significantly whiter and brighter. I was disappointed and returned the Clara BW. YMMV.

Well, it seems like Clara 2E (Carta 1200) has a better screen than Clara BW (Carta 1300), according to this: https://blog.the-ebook-reader.com/20...really-better/.

E-Inks communication has always been spotty at best and their website is missing a lot of information.

There has been confusion about their naming schemes before and there were multiple times where they changed names after the fact.

A recent example would be their Kaleido colour display line-up. The first update was originally called "Kaleido 1.5" and the following one "Kaleido 2". They have since renamed Kaleido 1.5 to "Kaleido Plus". And Kaleido 2 is now Kaleido 3.

Old: Kaleido -> Kaleido 1.5 -> Kaleido 2
New: Kaleido -> Kaleido Plus -> Kaleido 3

If you look at teardowns of the Kobo Clara BW for example, which is said to have a Carta 1300 display, you can see that it definitely has a display with a different model number (ED060KHE) than previous devices.

-> https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Kobo+Cl...acement/172045

You can see the correct model number on the pictures of step 37+ for example. The model number on the pictures in step 7 is different, because iFixit seems to have mixed up the pictures of the Clara BW and Clara Colour.
