That is a good question RWood. Conventional wisdom states that llamas sit around all day and create avatars for Zelda. In fact avatars are not made by llamas but are made from llamas. Surprisingly one llama can produce many avatars. To help illustrate this I have created an educational graphic which shows which part of a llama is responsible for each avatar.

thank you, madame b. i'm glad you are around to help dispel the myths surrounding the creation of avatars. little children might believe avatars are made by llamas but i think we are all mature enough to understand the truth. your educational graphic is perfect. if i have your permission, i will be using it during all my future llama avatar conferences.

thank you, madame b. as you may have noticed i am a strong proponent of the public domain, and it is for just such reasons as your quality creations inspiring the masses.

you are absolutely right, patricia, how remiss ! i should have mentioned that. rest assured that it is addressed in part III of my "llamavatar" conferences mentioned above (which will now be illustrated with the brilliant educational graphic of madame b). yes indeed, llamas are thrilled to make avatars and make an extra effort to grow the finest quality wool and toenails as raw materials. that is why they are so much fluffier than camels, which are selfish, bad-tempered creatures and want no part of spreading the joy and good-humour of avatars throughout the world.

I know MobileRead threads are famous for staying on topic so please forgive me this one time for straying away from the subject of avatar creations for Zelda Pinwheel. I have noticed that Zelda does not use capital letters in many of her posts. Perhaps she is channeling ee cumings or perhaps the caps lock on her keyboard is broken. Since the llama for Neko Chipin fundraiser was a resounding success I propose a buy Capital Letters for Zelda Promotion. The attached graphic is just an example, I have not started the promotion at this time.

you are right madame b that we are very very severe about straying off topic around here, as you've noticed. but since you are generally an upstanding member of this community i suppose we can let it slide this one time. for you.

i am really sincerely touched by your fund to purchase capital letters for me. actually, while i may sometimes channel ee cummings, the truth is that i save my limited supply of them up for times when i am really furious or excited about something. i try to use them with parcimony so as not to run out ; it would be terrible if i no longer had any way of indicating particularly strong emphasis. also when i am in a really bad mood i find a good round of swearing to be cathartic and this is most effective in capitals as well, but i do try to generally be polite and even-tempered. this is not always easy so i find that avoiding capitals can keep bad temper in check, or at least somewhat attenuate its expression.

I suppose then we could start a fund to buy me a dictionary so I can look up the word "parcimony." Or even better set up a fund to buy me a Cybook Gen 3 so I could convert this post into a book and use the dictionary look up function. Either way I would end up a much smarter person.

I have to say, this is the best explanation of not using capitals that I have ever heard/read. It was almost enough to convince me to forgo capitals as well.

yes, i can really be a model of good sense when i have to find a rational justification for laziness. (although that is in fact partially true, regardless of laziness.)

oups. damned french / english "similar but different" spellings. at least if i had written "parcimonie" it would have been a correct spelling, even if it were the wrong language. as it is it's just wrong. thank heavens neko is there to fix my mistakes.
