type errors abound?
I just got a Nook color for Christmas and have been reading three different books on it at the same time. I noticed that all three have quite a few typos in them, more than I have ever noticed in "real" books. Anyone else noticed that-it is driving me crazy-pal for pad, Its for It's, etc. Are they using different book versions to download, or it is just easier to see the errors when they are backlit? Ha.

Hi, welcome to MR from the Netherlands. Those errors are a fault of the publishers mostly. On MR are good formatted free classic ebooks for you to download.

The errors are annoying and ridiculous. When I'm paying almost as much for an electronic book that I would have paid for the paper version, I deserve better than something shoddily typed and full of mistakes.

No, really, there are a lot more typos in some ebooks, and it's really frustrating. You'd think people would pay more attention. |

Good to have your company, PraireLake and GirlReadWrite. Sadly, some publishers (the bigger they come the more guilty they tend to be) were not properly prepared for the explosion in ebook popularity and have been cutting corners to quickly prepare digital editions of their titles at the expense of reader experience. Many smaller publishers saw it coming and -- immediately embracing the technology rather than resisting it -- were better placed to individually format and re-proof their books on a title-by-title basis. Best wishes. Neil

Sorry you have had that experience, Prairie and Girl. Gives the rest of us a bad name. Hope you find something great real soon so you will have a positive experience with your new way of reading...

What makes it really annoying, is that my daughter is an editor, and worked for a publishing company for 10 years that sold out to a big company and didn't want the staff. She is working from home editing online-she would fix all those errors in a heartbeat!! Why don't they hire copy editors that work from home before putting those books out there. It is getting to the point that all I see are typos now.

most of us do, though some always seem to slip through...
I know what you mean, typos always glare at me. Sharon |
