Errors with EPUB rendering on Kobo Aura H2O running koreader-stable-v2015.11

Errors with EPUB rendering on Kobo Aura H2O running koreader-stable-v2015.11

Can't render the EPUB version of the Father Brown Omnibus posted on this forum here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74602

Gives a lot of question marks between characters, suspect possible unicode issue? Not certain.

Correctly renders the MOBI version of the same book (found here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13637)

Any advice would be appreciated. I prefer EPUBs, don't want to switch to MOBI unless I have to.

Thanks!

I did not encounter that problem.
I tried it with embedded style on and off, it looked to use my selected font, in both cases. So you might try using a different font.

I remember seeing this kind of problem discussed on GitHub in the past - see here:

Yes, It seems mostly fixed in nightly version but still render errors are present, for example:
Calibre:

Koreader (v2015.11-214-g58e7103)(2016-03-06):

Epub code:
Code:

  <p class="asterisco ilustra svg20"><img alt="" src="../Images/Cruz_Patada.svg" /></p>

style.css:
Code:
/* imágenes simples */	/* para láminas verticales (página completa), usar el estilo fijo «cubierta» */
.ilustra { margin:1em 0; text-align:center; text-indent:0; display:block; }
	.ilustra img { max-height:100%; max-width:100%; }

/* ----- ESTILOS PERSONALES ----- */
.capitular { font-size:300%; font-weight:bold; float:left; margin:-0.1em 0.125em -0.2em 0em;text-indent:0em; line-height:1em; height:1em; }
.asterisco { text-align:center; text-indent:0; padding-top:1.2em; padding-bottom:1.2em; }
.subtitulo { text-indent:0; margin-top:-1.2em; margin-bottom:2.5em; }
.svg20 img { max-width: 1.2em; width: 100%;}
.normal {  font-style:normal; }
Cruz_Patada.svg :

(This epub is well rendered in "nickel").

Regards.

KOReader's issues with SVG and SVG wrapper, don't appear to be part of the OP's problem. There is some current effort, at Github, to improve image display within the cr3 engine side of KOReader. At the moment, weather a problem appears in a particular book or not, hasn't been laid to any consistent cause.

Luck;
Ken

Are we even supposed to support SVG at all?

@DaleDe: Good to know .

That said, I still have my doubts wether CRe actually honors that . I have no recollection of it pulling any kind of SVG rendering lib, and that would seem kind of non-trivial to NIH...

Even so, exists an svg viewer example in the cr3 sources:
https://github.com/koreader/crengine...les/svg_viewer
Maybe, it could inspire someone...
