Are custom columns stored in the library settings or Calibre settings?

I'm preparing for a move to a new computer. I've already got the details of moving the library itself sorted out, but I'm hoping to start with fresh Calibre configuration settings.

I don't want to lose all my nice custom columns, though. Are those stored in the library itself?

As well, is there anything else I should be aware of about starting with an old library on a fresh Calibre install?

Yep. CC are stored per library.

If you customized the CC icons, though, I do believe that's a universal Calibre setting.

Custom columns are IN metadata.db (per library)
The JSON file is the recovery item FOR that library ONLY

OTOH
User settings, device settings searches... are part of the configuration folder

If you use the Import/Eport tool (library Icon), it puts everything into an archive. You can choose what to restore (import) All settings, or any complete Library (or all saved)

@ownedbycats - Use the Export/Import tool, you'll find it in in the library icon drop down menu.

It's primary purpose is to facilitate moving calibre between computers see ==>> How do I move my calibre data from one computer to another?
