Uploading Metadata to SD Card Freezes

I am new at this topic and just bought a Sony PRS-650.

I am having a major problem when uploading a high amount off books to the SD card.

I have a collection of 6000+ ebooks, all in epub format.

Uploading a first chunk of 3000 books to the SD card goes all well (85min for the upload and around 2-3 minutes for uploading the Metadata).

Trying to upload the second chunk of books (3000-6000) gives me repeatedly problems: Most of the cases the upload of Metadata freezes.

Looking at the job window it says "uploading metadata", but stays on 0% although the minutes/seconds are counting. I left it running over night and it is still locked/frozen in the morning. Can subsequently not disconnect the device (job still running) and hence have to forcibly close/shutdown Calibre.

Do you experts out there have any advise or suggestions for me - would be highly appreciated because I am close to a standoff.

PS: Might there be a limit of books or MB that can be uploaded to my Sony device?
