What is the normal background color of the JB mini?

Hi,

Just got my JB Mini today and I have a dumb question: what is the real color of the background of this model?

All the photos, like this one, show it to be a nice crisp white. Mine is a rather of dark golden color.

Am I missing a setting somewhere, or are the other photos retouched?

Thanks,

Farhad

I doubt that the photos were retouched, but I'm sure they were shot from the most flattering angle, with the optimal contrast.

My JBL has what I would call a light bronze cast to the screen -- but definitely not "dark." I don't have a problem with it -- in fact, I suspect a pure white background would be less comfortable to use. As it is, the screen is comfortable to use with a good reading lamp -- the same lamp I use to read paper-based books.

Hi Cromag:

Another "incriminating" photo:

But ok. I will try it out in the sunlight, maybe it is better.

Also - what kind of SD card are you using. My JBmini does not work with a Transcend 8GB SDHC (10) even though that is what the user manual recommends.

Ectaco claims that this unit can read SDHC cards up to 16GB with the latest firmware, which I did install, but that is clearly not true.

So what is the biggest size card this unit can really work with?

Thanks!

Again, my Lite may not be exactly equivalent to your mini, but I have used SD and SDHC cards from several manufacturers and haven't found any that don't work. I don't have any Transend brand, but I do have (and have successfully used) cards from PNY, Lexar, SanDisk and Patriot. In particular, my 16 GB Patriot card worked fine.

But now that I'm settled down and actually using it, I am using a few old "small" SD cards. I easily have more than a hundred "books" loaded on the card, but they total a little less than 160 MB -- my old 512 MB and 1 GB cards are really too small for my camera, but they will probably never get filled up with Epub files.
