Question some Borders ebooks are "mobile" file type: can Sony Readers read them?

Borders.com seems to offer 3 types of ebooks: ePUB, PDF, and mobile.

Does anyone know if I have a Sony 650 and buy a book that only has "mobile" file type from Borders, would my 650 be able to read it?

My guess is probably not but would like to confirm it.

Also anyone knows what readers can read the Borders "mobile" file type (other than their own iPhone/iPad app)? Kobo reader?

Thank you very much

Only Borders and Kobo can read the mobile file format, which is a super secret format that Kobo uses to lock you into their store. Borders/Kobo apps are available for several types of smartphone. I don't know if Kobo and Borders apps inter-operate (i.e. whether the Borders app can read Kobo "mobile" files and whether the Kobo app can read Borders "mobile" files). If not, don't forget that Borders will be shrinking under bankruptcy and could disappear entirely within a year or two.
