Getting books onto the K3

Hello:

I'm considering getting my wife a K3, I would like to know how books are put on the unit?
I know you can do it directly via the Wifi, but what if I want to download the book, then put it on manually, or put on other books I own - can I do this via the USB connection?

When (if) I but books from Amazon, can I read them on my Kindle and on Kindle for windows at the same time? If so How do I get the books onto the Kindle for PC app?

Thanks.

Yes, certainly. When you connect the Kindle via USB it mounts as a drive on your PC. Just copy the files to the "documents" folder on that drive.

Yes.

It downloads the books itself from your Amazon account.

Just to clarify, you can also read non-amazon ebooks on you Kindle for PC app so long as they are in a Kindle format such as mobi files. Kindle for PC will create a folder called My Kindle Content (or similar) in your My Documents folder and this is where the ebooks are stored. Can't quite remember whether the Kindle for PC app automatically detects ebooks in the folder or whether you double-click on them. It's been a long time since I've used it.
