I upgraded from the last Oasis to the current paperwhite. Yes, I miss the page turn button but it's not a deal breaker. I got a remote for page turning which is amazing.
The charging port alone makes the change worth it for me, also QI charging is nice. The speed difference of the UI is more than noticeable, page turning is way faster. The battery lasts so so so so so so much longer. I like the size and material of the Oasis more than the paperwhite which feels more plastic-y. I use both now, the sync between them works ok-ish. I Also got a kobo libra colour but I prefer the kindles overall. |

I'm thinking of upgrading to the new Signature Edition, mostly for the battery life. My Oasis battery life is horrible. A day, if I read a lot. A week if I don't.
I'm afraid, though, that losing the page turn buttons might be an issue for me. I'm not afraid of losing D&T since I do plan on keeping my Oasis either way. |

I've considered the new signature edition. I played around with one at a best buy display and it was super fast. I think I'd get used to not having page turn buttons.

I'm enjoying mine. Page turn buttons are a nice option to have, but I manage fine without them. The speed and the light weight of the device are what I love most. The wireless charging is great too. I love being able to just plop it on the stand on my desk every couple of days for a few minutes to maintain the charge between around 70 to 90 percent. Having to plug it in always seemed like a pain and so I always ended up waiting until it was low and then had to plug it in for a couple of hours at a time, usually right when I wanted to read or take it with me somewhere.

Personally, I find the 10th Generation Kindle Oasis (2019) to be better than the 12th Generation Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition (2024) for these reasons:
(1) When set to 24 Brightness; 12 Warmth, the Kindle Oasis screen is still brighter. (2) The text on the Kindle Oasis is just as sharp as the 12th Generation Kindle Paperwhite SE (3) The Kindle Oasis is 188 grams, the 12th Gen Kindle PPW is 214 grams. Yes, I noticed. When you have any sort of joint inflammation issues, you notice. (4) The page turns appear to be nearly identical in speed. I have no delay now after the most recent 5.17.xxxx firmware update made the Kindle Oasis behave normally again. (5) Dictionary, Wikipedia and Translation look-up may be marginally snappier, but that is not why I am using the e-Reader. The Library scroll-through is snappier, but it is so rare as to be an insignificant concern, especially since the only reason it is snappier is because Amazon have deliberately degraded the 11th and 10th generation devices' software experience. I rarely shop on the Kindle, as I prefer to check elsewhere for cheaper prices before purchasing. At best, I will select Yes to download the next book in a Kindle Unlimited series, and any increased speed there goes unnoticed. (6) Contrast-wise, both had deep blacks. The reality is that there is variation even among Oasis devices, so it's possible the 12th Gen Kindle PW I handled was one that didn't have the best contrast it could have. In comparison to the 11th Gen Kindle PW, my Oasis is still brighter and occasionally sharper in text. The 11th Gen and 12th Gen Kindle PW, in my opinion, are so alike in their brightness, sharpness and contrast, that I found it silly to upgrade if you already have an 11th Gen Kindle PW SE. If you have the Oasis and really, really want USB-C or the Oasis battery is dying, I would say get the 12th Gen Kindle PW on the Black Friday Sale, sure. But in my book, the 10th Gen Kindle Oasis is still the best device that Amazon have ever released. Shame that it is so difficult to repair and that there is no button-having successor with auto-gyro like the Kobo Libra and Kobo Sage. |

Well... I ended up getting a Kobo Libra Colour.
I think that it has more positive than negative qualities when compared to Kindle Oasis. I really liked the cloud storage integrations, and mainly the native and direct support for the EPUB format. That's a nice addition. What I really don't like is that each book I open needs to have the font size tunned. It seems there's a lack of "uniformity" (if this really make any sense) between books. Maybe someone with more familiarity with the Kobo ecosystem has something to do say about. Anyway, thanks everyone for the hints and insights. |

If you are seeing a font size difference between books that show as Kobo ePub and ePub in the Books view, there is a patch (Unify Font Sizes) to fix that. If you are seeing font size differences between books of the same type, that is due to Kobo respecting the CSS and some authors/publishers/whatever not respecting the convention that body text should be 1em.
