PSP Charger
I got a PRS-300 for Christmas...I love it!!!
My very thoughtful husband purchased a PSP Charger from EBay. The plug part of the charger says: Travel Charger Model: Sony PSP Input: 110-220V 50-60Hz Output: 5.5V...600mA My reader says "DC IN 5.2V". Will this charger work? I'm scared to try it!! Thanks in advance, Sylvia |

Congrats of getting the 300. I love mine.
Ew be careful. Did your hubby buy it from a Chinese seller on eBay? If so, be really, really careful. I know it sounds bad because most stuff is made in China anyways but different manufacturers have different standards. I sell on eBay and read the boards there. There are SO many Chinese sellers selling inferior, problematic, fake junk on eBay it's frightening. Sure you can get it really, really cheap but at what cost? People have ruined their equipment using shoddy products. Be carefulwith what you buy. |

Not China...it came from the US. No other markings on the charger itself - just the info that I posted above.
Hey, Shopaholic! I'm in Ontario too...Ottawa to be exact! Thanks for the replies so far! |

sony uses the same charger for many of their devices going back at least a decade. they may not follow common standards but they sure have their own standards and they stick to them!

If your husband bought an original psp charger, it'll work perfectly. I use mine to charge the psp, the prs-505 and the prs-600. No problems there.

Hi, Sylvia. Did that AC charger work? I bought the same one. The seller advertises it for the Sony Reader but the specs on the charger (5.5v, 600 mA) isn't the same as the Sony Reader charger specs of 5.2V 2000mA .

When I was in the intent of buying, I brought along my non-official PSP charger (my official one left behind... for my mother's PRS-700 xD) to see if I could load a 505 and a 300, and they had no trouble.

(sorry for the slow reply )
Haven't tried the PSP charger yet...still scared! I haven't really needed it though - I thought the charger would be a "nice to have" but the battery life on my reader is amazing. Sylvia |
