Building a case/cover

I'm thinking about building a cover for my Iliad. Right now I wrap it with some flannel when carrying it in my backpack, but that's dissatisfying.

So I'm thinking about using the cover of some hardcover book of appropriate dimensions. That should be awesome. (Anybody willing to spend me a copy of The Road Ahead? That would kill me)

The question is: How do I secure the Iliad inside the cover? Any ideas or suggestions?

What's the purpose of the two holes on the left side, near the bottom? Can I insert some kind of hook there?

I am going to be making a cover with felt, I've already bought the material, in fact, I was just now going over the design, but until I have the iLiad in my hands, I'm not sure about some details. When I get it done, I'll post some pics.

The IRex shop lists a cover for the iliad which is expected to be available in October of this year. Might save you the trouble of having to custom-build one yourself. No further details on the cover though, neither price nor pictures.

Cheers,

@FryandLaurie (love those guys, btw)

But, if shipping for the cover is going to be another 20€, it's going to be one expensive cover, eh? Anyway, the felt cost me all of 2 euros, and I have fun sewing.

They are almost tell lies as a rule ))) If you follow the link (https://www.irexshop.com/product_inf...products_id/39), you will see the message:
"This product will be in stock on Monday 30 October, 2006"

So - not earlyer then November...

@ElaHuguet

True, but since I'm no whiz at sewing and I am probably going to wait a few more month to get a better picture of how the Iliad software is progressing, I might just order Iliad and cover in one go.

Cheers,

Now, that would make sense, but bear in mind what Takir says, it won't be available before November really, but if you have patience enough...

So... Based on the assumption there won't be a cover until Xmas, what else would fit an iLliad...?

There are cases for the smallest notebooks, such as this (http://www.misco.es/productinformati...~WW~/index.htm), but maybe it's too loose in there for it, 10cm extra in both directions. Maybe one of those agenda cases with a zipper, you could take all the paper out and use it... again, when I make mine, I'll post pics and instructions for anyone who wants to try their hand.

@ElaHuguet

You probably will not have to pay 20€ for shipping in October as the official Irex distribuor in Spain will be ready for business by then according to Irex.

Ah, ”menos mal! And thanks for reminding me. Even so, if my green felt case comes out nice, it'll be great, custom-made for me.

I paid too much for this already and a cover should be included. I'm not buying a cover from iRex if I can get one elsewhere. For a A5 device, it shouldn't be that hard to find something to accomodate to.
Maybe Ela shoud set her own store with custom covers.
