Voyage or Aura, better folder structure?

Long time since I've posted, simply because my venerable Cybook Gen3 has been a wonderful reader for many years, but now sadly giving up the ghost.

I've briefly read the forums on relative merits of likely replacement, Voyage or Aura HD, but one thing I couldn't find was mention of flexible folder structures. The Cybook was great, allowed huge flexibility to set up folders and sub-folders, and import existing book files to any folder without regard to proprietary systems (using combination of Calibre and Windows Explorer).

Do either or both of these new ereaders have that ability to freely create directory trees and import to any folder, or are you stuck with standard library structures or proprietary systems?

Thanks for any comments/help.

Does it have to be a hierarchical folder system, or would you consider more flexible tagging-style collections management?

Kobo doesn't do directory browsing natively. There are a couple of alternative readers that you can use on a Kobo that might do what you want or a Meera said there is tagging via shelves.

Kindle doesn't do folders. It uses "collections", which are tags. You can name them any way you want, e.g. Science fiction - military - David Weber. They are not hierarchical.

Thanks for the replies. The tagging option sounds like it might achieve what I need for collection management, I will have to read more to understand how this works.

tags are used to define collections, instead of folder structure.

When you add a book to a collection, it gets tagged as part of that collection, it's that simple.

That is why books can be part of two different collections.

Note that, on the Kindle at least, you can store your books in whatever hierarchical folder structure you wish to, but the structure is "flattened out" for actual display on the home page.

Kobo readers are the same.
