Sci Fi books about hollow earth?

I'm looking for a good book with a sort of hollow earth/Atlantis/hidden race theme. Can anyone recommend something like this?

Edgar Rice Burroughs' Pellucidar series? He was a fav of mine as a child but his works don't read as well to me today.

Oh yeah, although it's probably not what you're looking for, I think Dante's "Inferno" would qualify.

At least one of H. P. Lovecraft's stories (The Nameless City) deals with a man approaching an ancient underground society.

If so then Inferno by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle would qualify too.
