Another mediocre tablet. I hope this isn't the new normal.

Reported price is only second-hand. They may price it lower and, if so, have a hit. Asus is a very respectable brand. I've wanted one of their Transformer tablets forever but always too pricey.

I'd call the Nexus 7 mid-range, with this new Asus taking a comfortable spot at the bottom of the range. It looks basically similar to the rooted Nook Color I let my ten-year-old use, and I wouldn't spend more than $100 for it.

Interesting. So, no longer "Rival to iPad"? Even mini? Makes you think...

Actually, for a lot of the budget $99 tabs 1024x600 is higher resolution. There's a whole bunch at 800x480, and this would be a step up. It wasn't that long ago that 1024x600 was the standard res. for a quality 7" tablet.

Yes, I am aware that it won't happen for $99. One can hope though. Looking really close what happens with the Nexus 10 - if it wasn't out of stock that is a nice tab with 300 ppi. Maybe when it gets updated and price stays same, I might get one later this year.
