Read Aloud in Japanese

Hi,

I just tried the new read aloud feature on a japanese epub (vertical layout, so epub 3 I guess).

No sound, seems the scan the book very quickly, no error reported.

Maybe I am asking too much

System is mac book pro Mid 2014, macos 11.7.2. Active language is english, japanese language installed.

The new read aloud is windows only. Read aloud on other platforms has not been changed. It works by taking text from the book and passing it to the OSes speech to text engine. Can you read that text aloud elsewhere in macOS?
