I don't know from "reasonable", but in terms of "legal", that depends where you live. In Australia, since Jan 1 2011, when you have a major problem with a product, the consumer has the choice of whether to have a replacement or a refund. Not the retailer.

"Major" is further defined:

Quote:
"A product or good has a major problem when:

it has a problem that would have stopped someone from buying it if they’d known about it
it is unsafe
it is significantly different from the sample or description
it doesn’t do what the business said it would, or what you asked for and can’t easily be fixed."

Every return period should start when the buyer actually gets the product in *his hands*. Otherwise it's non-sense

Maybe the person you've been chatting with went overboard and someone else would have been less stubborn. It doesn't matter now, though.

Again, I think we are talking about two different issues. I understand that the fifteen day return is a return for any reason at all including simply not liking the colour of the device, for example or just simply changing your mind.

I think you are talking about warranty issues and in that respect the Australian law has it right. All countries should have similar laws.

Edit:

I've just reread your quote more carefully and realised that it probably covers more than what warranties usually cover (although I'm not a lawyer so I probably don't know what I'm talking about https://www2.mobileread.com/i/smilies/smile.gif.)

Well, Japes has a basically DOA device, not a change-of-mind issue.

Yah, that should be covered by the one year warranty.
