Your "Important details":
I suppose you put up a copy of the email as a way of saying that if you didn't get the email, you're not eligible.

However, what about the poor saps who didn't know about an advertisement/announcement that was sent to some people? The poor saps who only found the link to the webpage that welcomed them back to Audible, etc., etc.? The poor saps who don't view MobileRead posts, or just don't follow this thread? The poor saps who don't have friends who got the advertisement/announcement, either, or have friends that didn't pass along that information to them. They wouldn't, in all likelihood, ever know that they were supposed to receive an announcement/advertisement in their email if they were eligible. All that they might have is that poorly written and ambiguous popup.

However, as I mentioned to CatLady, I feel like the weight of the argument does go to her side. In fact, I believe that now more than I did then. I try to be humble, magnanimous, open-minded, etc. and accept it when another side has the better an argument.

BTW--if people read the address box or whatever it's called, which I almost always do, of the webpage with the popup, they would have seen this URL: "http://www.audible.com/?warnmsgkey=not_eligible_for_trial". That would be one more piece of evidence (and a strong one, too) that the person going to that particular webpage should go away with the idea that they were not eligible.

With Audible, nothing's certain. Frequently it's a YMMV situation. That's why it never hurts to try for every offer you're interested in, even if the terms of those offers state you wouldn't qualify.

I followed the link posted above and was able to redeem the offer (I had canceled my Audible subscription maybe four or five months ago). In fact, there was a banner at Audible page with the offer and I followed that link to get it.

Audiobooks.com -- June Is Audiobook Month -- exp 23 Jun @ 9am ET
Quote:
Patience Cavanaugh has lost hope in romance. The man she yearned to marry is dead and her dreams are gone with him. Now she is consumed with restoring a dilapidated boarding house in order to support herself.

Despite Patience’s desire for solitude, Jedediah Jones, the local marshal with a reputation for hanging criminals, becomes an ever-looming part of her life. It seems like such a simple arrangement: She needs someone with a strong back to help her fix up the boardinghouse. He needs a dependable source of food for himself and his prisoners. But as she gets to know this “hanging lawman,” Patience finds there is far more to him than meets the eye — and it could destroy their tenuous relationship forever.

With a keen eye for historical detail and a deft hand at romantic tension, Maggie Brendan invites you to a Montana gold rush boomtown, where vices and virtues are on full display and love is lying in wait.

Sync Audio -- Weekly Offers -- FAQs & Help -- exp 29 Jun @ 7 AM ET

Our AudiobookSYNC offerings for Week 9 include the audiobook debut of the earliest published stories from a teen who later became a prolific fantasy author, and a second that delves into the true history of the teens and women on whom Colonial America’s witch hysteria focused.
FREE -- The Witches: Salem 1692 -- Stacy Schiff/ Eliza Foss --> 18.4 hrs --> history

Pulitzer Prize winner Stacy Schiff, author of the #1 bestseller Cleopatra, provides an electrifying, fresh view of the Salem witch trials.

The panic began early in 1692, over an exceptionally raw Massachusetts winter, when a minister's niece began to writhe and roar. It spread quickly, confounding the most educated men and prominent politicians in the colony. Neighbors accused neighbors, husbands accused wives, parents and children one another. It ended less than a year later, but not before nineteen men and women had been hanged and an elderly man crushed to death.

Speaking loudly and emphatically, adolescent girls stood at the center of the crisis. Along with suffrage and Prohibition, the Salem witch trials represent one of the few moments when women played the central role in American history. Drawing masterfully on the archives, Stacy Schiff introduces us to the strains on a Puritan adolescent's life and to the authorities whose delicate agendas were at risk. She illuminates the demands of a rigorous faith, the vulnerability of settlements adrift from the mother country, perched-at a politically tumultuous time-on the edge of what a visitor termed a "remote, rocky, barren, bushy, wild-woody wilderness."

With devastating clarity, the textures and tensions of colonial life emerge; hidden patterns subtly, startlingly detach themselves from the darkness. Schiff brings early American anxieties to the fore to align them brilliantly with our own. In an era of religious provocations, crowdsourcing, and invisible enemies, this enthralling story makes more sense than ever.

The Witches is Schiff's riveting account of a seminal episode, a primal American mystery unveiled-in crackling detail and lyrical prose-by one of our most acclaimed historians.
FREE -- Witch's Vacuum Cleaner -- Terry Pratchett/ J Rhind-Tutt --> 3.9 hrs --> fantasy

The Witch's Vacuum Cleaner and Other Stories

"Do you believe in magic? Can you imagine a war between wizards? An exciting journey in an airship or down in a submarine? Would you like to meet the fastest truncheon in the Wild West?

The Witch’s Vacuum Cleaner is the second fabulously funny short-story collection from the late acclaimed storyteller Terry Pratchett. A follow-up to Dragons at Crumbling Castle, this second batch of storytelling gems features stories written when Sir Terry was just seventeen years old and working as a junior reporter. In these pages, new Pratchett fans will find wonder, mayhem, sorcery, and delight—and loyal readers will recognize the seeds of ideas that went on to influence his most beloved tales later in life.

As Neil Gaiman says, “a Terry Pratchett book is a small miracle”—and The Witch’s Vacuum Cleaner proves to be another miracle taking its place alongside Pratchett’s astounding and cherished body of work."
