[SOLVED] Images display in Sigil Book View, but not on the device
Hi,
First, thanks to the Sigil developers. I think it is an awesome tool! I'm a newbie--have just converted my 2nd book. My workflow is MS Word + Toxaris e-book Tools, then cleanup in Sigil. My problem is my images are displayed in Book View inside Sigil, but they don't show up when I copy my ePub from where Sigil puts it to my device (Nexus 7 + Aldiko reader). I used the exact same workflow on the first book I did without any image problems. I must have done something different this time, but I can't figure out what it is. Thanks in advance for any constructive suggestions! [SOLUTION]. I just ran FlightCrew. (I was previously under the assumption that it ran automatically when you saved). I got messages which gave me the hint I needed for the solution. The problem was that I was using this as the value of the src attribute for img tag: Code:
<img alt="chapter-end" src="../Images/title-chapter.png" /> Code:
title-chapter.PNG Last edited by orange!; 06-29-2013 at 12:15 PM. Reason: added solution |

Oh!
And the most common: Path error. Your image link is to a Local Drive and not Code:
../Images/myimagename.jpg |

Case mismatches will get you every time.
BTW Flight crew will flag those, usually 2 ways. 1) Unused Image (yellow) 2) Missing Image You just have to figure out the Why. That sneaky case is really hard to spot. Spaces in filenames are just best avoided all together |

Mixed Case Is My code (gotcha) thing I used to use a program that was case insensitive. The (readability) convention was System (the program) functions, reserved words and Variables were Mixed case, local variables all lower case. |

Indeed. An interesting reciprocal situation. My cat, from his POV, is never guilty of anything.
But from my POV, he's responsible for LOTS of things. After all, from his POV he's in charge of everything. Therefore... [aside] And, as for being a Cat Senior Staffer vs. being a Cat Slave (to continue a previous conversation), as a CSS, I have indeed been threatened with firing, but it has no force. I know that he knows that it took almost 20 years to train me to these (cat POV: woefully inadequate) standards. He won't live long enough to train another. I've got him there! [/aside] And now, back on topic: Why insist on upper case for file extensions? (not rhetorical, I'm curious.) Were it me in charge of a group, I'd insist on lower case, or at least consistency throughout the document (or all uppercase filenames? but that's so DOS-8). Maybe scripting problems? :: Albert |

Haven't been around here for a while but I'm trying to use Sigil now and have a couple of questions. But, first, I'm not sure how to start thread to post a question ... or even find a thread. Any advice for the partially brain dead?
Thanks. |

Well, the button labeled 'New Thread' should give you a pointer... Finding usually works by using the search buttons.

Strewth, t'was simply picking one over the other. The majority of the staff came to it using all upper-case, so I went with that. I simply didn't want title case causing issues. It was as well thought out as a coin toss. I myself like lowercase, as I said. (Mostly because it's less wear on my pinkies and the capslock, but, hey...) Cat Slavery is the most insidious kind, for it is like Stockholm Syndrome...they make you LIKE it. ;-) Hitch |

Search works poorly on Mobileread. It might be easier to search in Google and see if it finds something at Mobileread. There are also sticky posts at the head of the Sigil forum which might answer your questions. Some of us have been using Sigil since it was version .2! This is the home page for Sigil: http://code.google.com/p/sigil/ There is a recently revised online help file there and a wiki. Do ask as there are new features put into the current edition that virtually no one knew about until somebody asked, such as the ability to mark a section of text and search and replace in only that section of text. I think there was a 'New Features List' on the Sigil host page.
I dare you to remember all of them (I sure don't. I still keep discovering old features ) |
