New firmware available
There's a new update available for the Odyssey (including the Frontlight):

First tests:
The "Currently reading" section works fine with books on SD card, that's really great. That was the biggest issue I had with the Frontlight so far. Second, the often noticed "no response on page change" is fixed according to the "what's new" file, no idea if it is really gone, but I havn't noticed any of these yet. With this new firmware and the possibility to create new dictionaries based on dictcc (see e.g. here for a German thread on how to get a really great English-German dictionary on the Bookeen) the Odyssey now really is a great reader! |

Thank you!
I have been waiting for this firmware update . Both for the pdf reflow, but also for the extended battery life. ( My Odessey's battery drains fast. But then I read a lot) |

Do you mean that you now have multiple books in the "currently reading"-section? I still don't... Only the last opened book is showed.

You already had multiple ones there (5, to be precise).
You can wipe right to left to get to the next one. But so far it just showed one book from the SD card there, not it works like it should and really shows your last 5 books. |

Well, for some reason my Odyssey cannot (maybe it doesn't want to...) upgrade the firmware.
I've tried upgrading via WIFI but the device turns itself off in the middle of the download (to a blank screen by the way), so no luck there. Using the memory card, it's more or less the same, it "seems" to try to upgrade (blue light on and off) and then it restarts and it hasn't upgraded... Any ideas? |

Make sure your battery is nearly full.
If even this does not work, try a factory reset before installing the new firmware (backup your ebooks first!). |

Did you power it off?
Did you hold the menu button while it powers on? Does it show the "updating" screen? |

OK, everything solved. For some reason the 8th time was the charm... Who knows? I've done the same over and over again, maybe the device is just stubborn...
Thanks for the ideas, the next step was resetting the thing... I like the new icons but it seems there's some flickering when changing from folder to folder that wasn't there before, maybe is just a matter of time... |

Damm. I think I managed to brick my cybook. How long is the updating part supposed to last?

Just called bookeen. They said the cybook will have to be returned for them to update.
He also said there was some problems with updating on some devices. If that true I advice not updating until bookeen post about the update on their blog or Facebook. |

You reached someone today? Wow...
No reset works to get it back alive? The update did not take long. 5 minutes, maybe 10. |
