Anybody who still prefers the Touch over the PW?
Hi I have to do much text highlighting.
So I m not sure to wait for the PW or the Touch. Frontlight is not important to me. Response and crisp font in daylight are. Anybody who still prefers the Touch for this? Thanks |

I far prefer the PW. The increased screen resolution makes the text a lot clearer than on the Touch. I can comfortably read with a smaller text size on the PW than on the Touch.

I find myself turned off by the PW, for some reason. I regret selling off my Kindle Touch.

I don't do much, if any, highlighting so can't caomment on that really. As for reading I found I prefer the Touch and sent my PW back to Amazon.

The only thing that the touch has that I'd want on the paperwhite is the text to speech function and the ability to swipe up or down to go between chapters. On everything else the paperwhite is supperior in my opinion.

I have tried out the PW 2 times: one from a friend, and once at Best Buy. The screen is whiter on the PW -- but I think that's mostly due to the light it has with it. It wasn't enough to make me think, "that's hands-down better than my Touch and I must get one".
So I am still happy with my Touch. I think it looks great. At night I just use a bedside lamp or (more rarely) a clip-on light to read with it. I don't plan on buying a PW until a couple more generations of Kindle e-ink readers come out that are significantly better than mine. -Chris |

It's not the light that makes the PW better for me, but the higher resolution. If you compare the two side-by-side, the PW has distinctly sharper and crisper text as a result of the higher resolution. The light is just a "nice to have" thing.

The Touch is infinitely better at TTS.

My wife and I both find the touch screen on the PW to be much more responsive than the KT.

I prefer the PW. For the resolution, fonts, better touch, better UI, better contrast and a built in light. But I understand that I was lucky in getting a good PW. I feel for those that received bad ones.

My PW screen is probably sub-par, as the font appear 'washed-out' when compared to my KT.
The wider bazel is also a plus for the KT. The battery on the KT also lasts longer than a sneeze. The PW battery is just too short lived, if you use 3g with any frequency. Said so, in any sub-optimal light (that is, all the time, for practical purposes), I prefer the PW screen. I just wish the fonts were not so... I'll use the same expression again, for lack of a better one... washed out. I guess that is lack of contrast. The fonts on my KT are much, much darker, when you put them side by side. |

I think the PW is much better at highlighting than the Touch. Daylight viewing is also much better.

The Touch was OK, but I like my PW better.

If you didn't have either, I'd say the PW model would be best. But, I don't know that the PW would be a significant enough upgrade for you. It would be good to hit up a Best Buy to get your paws on one before you commit.
