One of the most bizarre pranks I've ever witnessed occurred in a building where the flooring consisted of wooden bricks installed over a concrete surface. The building's workers all had roll around tool carts that they stored there. One of the workers went to get his cart one morning only to discover that overnight someone had removed the four wooden bricks on which the four wheels of his cart rested and filled the holes with fresh concrete, thus cementing his cart to the floor.

Not that I'm trying to recycle old ideas, mind you.

One problem with all our ideas is that he'll know who is responsible.
But I remembered one that I used back when I worked in a private boarding school, when we were having a problem with someone breaking into office drawers.

I bought some Gentian Violet crystals at a drug store/supply house. With a mortar and pestle, ground the crystals into a fine powder, then sprinkled the powder onto a wallet that a teacher had ostentatiously filled with a fake wad of money ( real bills on the outside and paper inside) and put into a drawer. When we came back the next day, the drawer was open and the fake bank roll thrown on the floor.

As a powder, Gentian Violet is a pale white. When sprinkled on a canvas wallet it's hardly noticeable. But when most novice crooks are thieving, especially when breaking into a school office at night, they tend to be nervous. And nervous hand tend to sweat. And moisture + Gentian Violet powder = a brilliant BLUE dye that can't be washed off. All we had to do was look at hands during breakfast to know who was ripping off the school.

Gentian Violet powder on his handle grips. He'll never even notice until he gets off the bike...

LOL, all great ideas.

I don't care that he knows it's us, it's hard not to know since he's been bugging us. The guy who works for the café next door had an entertaining morning; first me, who was securing the bike to the fence and later the owner having problems getting it off the fence. Mind you, he's lucky, because I think 90% of the people here would have chucked his bike in the canal by now.

If you don't mind the cost of a cable lock, there are better ways to secure it to the fence.

Lock it to the fence with a piece of chain and an old lock. Then put a sign in the shops window saying "metal saws to go"

I'm thinking that the next time the guy parks his bike against the door I'll lower his saddle and handlebars. I know I hate it when my father thinks it's necessary to adjust the height of my saddle; he wants it as high as possible, that cycles best (which is true) and I want to be able to put my feet/a foot on the ground whilst still sitting on my saddle (easier when transporting heavier things).

That's an excellent idea. Not destructive or harmful, but certainly gets the message across.
