This stupid woman just flushed her career down the toilet ... not that she had much chance of success with her lack of talent.
The one-star reviews on her book, at least on Amazon, are mounting by the minute. Readers are not amused by her attitude. |

Ooooh, these things are like a train wreck that I can't look away from. (go ahead and criticize my grammar in that sentence!)
What was the Diana Gabaldon flap? Linky linky please? eP |

Diana Gabaldon blew up over fanfic, describing her fans who wrote it as dirty porny unimaginative people fantasizing about her husband and coming to her house and selling her children into white slavery.
Ironically, she herself seems to have based her most famous creation on an actor she was a fan of, whose character she adapted for her own works. Also, she praised her own son's book to outside sources while pretending they weren't related and he was this totally fantastic totally new author she just stumbled across. But that's really a different matter. |

I saw a little of it this morning - then quickly bowed out.
It does illustrate one of the problems some indie authors have: The refusal to listen to anyone who tells them their book isn't ready for publication yet. It's a pity, because I've read some very good indie books - I've also tossed away some pretty sad ones, and the ones that hurt are the ones where all they really needed was a little more work. |

My first thought was, well I won't remember her name anyway, so I will not be responsible for contributing to her delusions of grandeur. However, I think Jacqueline Howett has assured that I will remember her name, so that I can be sure not to purchase anything by her...ever.

My first review was not so great but filled with valid criticisms, especially about the quality of my proofreading. Thanks to that critic, the current (and final) version is a much better effort, and I am sure any future products will also be better. Yes, it hurts, but the truth often does.

jeez. authors should never respond to negative reviews (or even a positive review at all, as some people might say, since people might feel weird that authors are stalking their own reviews. that's a given, i think, but it's a different matter altogether when they have commented and proven their presence). it's a disaster waiting to happen, as in this case @_@
i have to say, though. this is tempting me to write |

Some of the mock reviews on Amazon are funny, and they are increasing in number.

I had an author thank me for a good review on my blog, and several thank me for good reviews on goodreads. It didn't bother me at all. It's not going to stop me saying what I think of their other books (which will probably be good, as I like those authors, but who knows?).
The authors I've given negative reviews to have been, one and all, classy enough to remain silent. I think an author can probably get away with correcting factual errors in a (negative) review as long as they are very calm about it, but that's about it. |
