What do you think comprises the best of all possible mobilereading worlds?

Maybe, Amazon opens Kindle to all ebook standards (like epub, etc).

Or, the dream e-reader is finally invented.

Or, Sony makes a better bookstore.

Or, totally open, DRM-free, single format e-books that work on all devices.

Or, whatever.

This. Isn't that basically what MP3 is for the music world? A DRM-free format that's usable in all modern audio players. Granted, it's not really an open standard. Yes, it's a standard, just not an open one (at least when it first became popular, no idea if it still is now).
