I don't know, it might depend on which zip program you use. The Windows 7z program included in the patch archive seems to set all files to executable by default when it creates the KoboRoot.tgz file. I don't know what it does about permissions in the .zip file though.

Thanks, I'll make that change in future versions of the patch.

From the output of stat --help it seems your system is using the same stat program as Linux, but some other OS X systems are using a different one, so it will be best to avoid using stat at all.

I've updated the attachment to post #1 to include the new 4.5.9587.sh script that fixes a stat/chmod error which would have prevented the script completing on some OS X systems.

See post #24 for the report of the error, and post #27 for details of the fix.

I tried tshering's Bad Eyes adaptation patch by jcn363 on my Kobo Glo FW 4.5.9587, There was no error in patching, but I don't see any effect on font sizes of menu/dictionary/etc.

Anyway you have (atleast) these three patches:

• Custom reading footer style
• Custom synopsis/details line spacing and Custom synopsis/font size
• Dictionary text font-family/font-size/line-height

With Georgia, it was possible to read medium-length notes easily inside the popup as the font itself and the line-height weresmall, but with Kobo Nickel not only is the font itself harder to read (IMO at least) but the line-height is huge, meaning that with any note longer than one sentence you get immediately redirected to the note's page. I *did* contact Kobo through the feedback section of their website but as it's not a bug I doubt it'll get much attention...

Ah.. thanks jcn363! I had forgotten to enable the other three patches. Now after enabling and applying, I can see the bigger fonts in dictionary view!

However, other than dictionary, I see no change in fonts of menus, book list, etc. Is it normal? I have not changed any values in any patch.

I don't have your model, but I've changed the ka1 values for my needs and it works. Perhaps you can try the same. If you need some advise...

If your device spontaneously reboots for no apparent reason when opening a large or complicited KePub book, it might be that the operation is taking a bit longer than normal and the sickel watchdog thinks it is stuck.

This patch will increase the time limit before sickel acts from 10 seconds to 20 or 30 seconds, giving a bit more time for slow tasks to complete. It should work with all firmware versions from 4.3.8842 to 4.5.9587.

To install along with the other patches, create a new file named sickel.patch in the same directory as the other *.patch files, and copy the following into the new file:
