Actually, it's not the original films from either that interests me. But Amazon Prime Video tends to have more older films, from the sixties through the nineties. Netflix used to, but they have far less now.

Movies like Larry Cohen's Q or Basket Case, or the slew of spaghetti westerns they have available.

Jeffrey Konvitz' The Sentinel is $1.99 at Amazon. One of a slew of '70's religious shockers, along with Rosemary's Baby, The Exorcist and The Omen. It was also had a fairly faithful movie adaptation.

The synopsis makes it sound like rip-off of Rosemary's Baby, but it isn't one.

Aspiring model Allison Parker finally moves into her dream apartment: a brownstone on Manhattan’s Upper West Side. But her perfect home quickly turns hellish.

The building is filled with a cast of sinister tenants, including a reclusive blind priest, who seems to watch her day and night through an upstairs window. Eventually, Allison starts hearing strange noises from the empty apartment above hers. Before long, she uncovers the building’s demonic secret and is plunged into a nightmare of sinful misdeeds and boundless evil.

Konvitz wrote a sequel, but I don't remember it holding a candle to this book.
