To install the right headers. ??
make headers_install ARCH=arm INSTALL_HDR_PATH=/opt/arm-2012.03/arm-linux-gnueabi/include from your local kernel source directory. (get the right one from Amazon) Last edited by twobob; 12-15-2012 at 04:55 PM. Reason: added Install Headers Howto. Added Linaro Info |

For reference. Here are some interesting images that hold some interest.

Binary Copy of Soft-float Linaro 2012.04 would be nice. *hint hint* : )
For a go-to OOTB k5 linaro flavoured solution at least https://launchpad.net/linaro-toolcha..._linux.tar.bz2 Last edited by twobob; 09-25-2012 at 12:47 PM. |

That one should work for things where you build up a new system in the /mnt/us file tree like you did with the K3.
For things which must be compatible with the K5's standard set of libraries - - It should be possible to disable the hard float, the VFP3 (in favor of the VFP), disable the neon instructions .... and whatever else makes the code in-compatible with the K5's standard set of libraries. It should be easier this time (for the K5) because the tool-chain and the target device both use the eglibc system libraries. |

That one I linked is the binary build of the last soft float one (I think ) that should work against the system libs - as is. I think. Probably. more on that RSN
but yes you are of course correct a src build is on the cards to keep up with the times. I was just doing the hunting down (like we did on the 3) so it's known what is on the table for "the average man" OOTB. Notes on the better TC options to follow. In other news I attempted to weld an arm-slack gcc onto the kindle5 FAT partition. more on that possibly too. |

I have a question
EDITED: Has anyone got the kernel headers to work on the touch. my make headers does not work as expected... EDIT EDIT: based on the info in https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...6&postcount=17 I was able to go for a more focused attempt with ctng. Thanks very much. wow, 19 pages? Don't know where to start reading. isn't there some more basic, general description of just kindle specific things to keep in mind? I don't want to get into complicated stuff like aufs just for compiling 2 or three libraries and some other very small things.

However, uClibc *IS* what my K1 uses, which is probably why apps choke even when CPU version compatible ("not found" error on loading, presumably the libc file not found). Only recently discovered that... So, I need a TC that uses uClibc, it seems... I need to try aboriginal linux then, eh?

OR
A copy of the libraries from the Kindle, and tell the toolchain to use those rather than the libraries it was built with. I.E: The same as you would do for a 'bare metal' build + plus include the uClibc libraries just as you would any other libraries referenced. |
