Half way between ePub and Pdf
Hello,
I'm a graphic designer and I found quite frustrating working with ePub because all the single platforms will render the book as they like. So no font-face, different size, different layout, different colours. I was wondering if there is an half way between ePub and Pdf, something that allows a graphic layout but in a reflowable, dynamical way. Any hints? Thank you |

Which platforms don't support font face? All the ones that I'm aware of do. Of course, the reader may not have the font you've requested available, but you can avoid that problem by using an embedded font.

Any decent reader will let people over-ride any crazy-designer settings anyway, so you are never going to get complete control over what everyone sees. Just do what you would do designing a website and aim for the average user. Anything that needs a specific layout, like an equation or whatever, use an image.

Ignore Stanza and Bookworm. There are reading apps on Androind and iOS that actually work. So there is another option such as getting working apps.
As for iBooks, yes you can embed fonts. But you have to add some non-standard code to an ePub to get the embedded fonts to display. |
