Kindle Fire not seen by Calibre

i have just purchased a gen 2 Kindle Fire. I use it w/a MacBook Pro, OS X ver 10.6.8, Intel based and have added AIR 3.3. My mac see the KF but Calibre 0.9.9 does not. Does anyone have a fix for this? Thanks for any help.

I had to try different USB ports on my HP PC before my Laptop or Calibre would reconise it! It still take a few mins for calibre to say it there!
