ebook reader 4.0 not detected

Hello,

my ebook reader 4.0 is not detected by calibre.
This is a 2GB version of the trekstor Pyrus and also known as the "Weltbild-Reader".
I did try to set up a user-defined device with the information from calibre

USB Vendor ID (in hex): 0x1e68
USB Product ID (in hex): 0x005c
USB Revision ID (in hex): 0x0100
Windows main memory vendor string: 
Windows main memory ID string: EBOOK_READER

but that didn't help.

T:\ is the reader and U:\ is the memory-card in the reader.
The complete outputs are included as attachments.

Any idea what's wrong?

Your device is not reporting its vendor and product names to windows
as can be seen looking at the debug output. Look at the lines

...VEN_&PROD_EBOOK_READER&...

A properly working device would report something like:

...VEN_SONY&PROD_PRS-650&

Without this it is not possible for calibre to support your device.

You can use the Connect to folder function to connect to your device
instead. Click the Connect/Share button in calibre to access this
function.

That's really disappointing but thanks for the quick reply.
I will report that to the trekstor folks as a firmware bug (Firmware EBR40-WB-1.0.42).
A Device that isn't fully compatible with calibre is crippled.

Let that be a warning to other potential byers of this device.

It is only LAMED. (But there is NO reason for a manufacturer to not properly (USB ) identify a device. Hopefully, it was cheap and the display is good

What you mostly lost (Some devices lose additional functionality, but I suspect this device did not have it anyway ) was the Automatic settings that come with model detection.

You can still use Save to Disk, you just need to set your format (default).

Use the Connect to folder feature and you get all of the same advantages of connecting to a device, but when you click send to device the books will go to the folder on the device that you select.

Thanks for the help and yes, the device was cheap.
59Euro (70USD) is not much for a reader with electrophoretic ink.
It was a spontanous buy. Had I known how much I would use it I would probably have spent more money.
Appetite comes with eating (A word-by-word translation of a German saying. No idea if it makes any sense in Enlish)
