Well yes and no. You have to add VAT (which is over 20 percent in some countries).

Then you are well over 700 Euro ...

I'm well aware of that

. I said in a post a couple of days ago that I'd expect a price of between $600 and $800 (without VAT, of course), and €585 is about $650, hence towards the lower end of what I was expecting. As you say, those of us in the EU have to add about 20% VAT to that.

The Boox Max looks absolutely wonderful. I have probably tested every digital pen and writing device available and never found anything that suits me. I would be nice to see a video of the writing experience, especially with Microsoft OneNote.

This is great news. Can it run Dropbox or mendeley? Crucially can it sync PDF files ok? That was my big problem with the DPT-S1. I would be very interested to hear about the display response time, resolution, and material (plastic or glass?). Finally please comment on the battery life which again was poor on the Sony, the battery on this Boox Max is reportedly ~4x larger so hopefully will be good.

Here is a video of my samples Onyx Boox Max, N96C (Plus) and N96ML (Plus). I didn't edit it and also didn't comment it yet.. Just wanted to give you first impression of them. During tests I have rooted my sample and installed some third party apps. In the clip you can see how Max handles PDF, DjVU, EPUB, CBZ files, TTS Acapella as well as how Google Play, DropBox, Kindle app, Browser work. I tried to install Mendeley, however Mendeley will be supported from Android 4.1 and currently does not work on my Max (on my sample it has got 4.0.4)

Not sure about it. I am going to offer upgrade to 4.4 along with roll back to 4.0.4 on my website , so you can try or use it. The first batch of them will be most likely 4.0.4 though. Additionally the software and UI shall be adapted to the big size of the screen of Max. Currently it uses the standard UI of all Onyx Boox Android devices.
