There are lots of books that use the phrase "best served cold". Enough to get very far afield from the original intent.

I think we are straying from the topic, or rather, getting bogged down in detail.

How about a theme around water, so it could include a book like Gavin Maxwell’s Ring of Bright Water, or books about the sea, of which there are a great many, or even Like Water for Chocolate.

New Leaf Book Club • Theme Suggestion Thread

An idea just struck me that seems rather good, but how do you feel?

Books Downloaded to my Pink Kindle

These could be books such as the novel, Ellery Queen vs Jack the Ripper: A Study in Terror by Ellery Queen (pseudonym of Frederic Dannay and Manfred Lee), in which Inspector Queen finds an old unpublished manuscript by Dr. John Watson detailing Sherlock Holmes' seemingly unsuccessful pursuit of the famous London murderer and takes on his own investigation.

An alternate title could be: "Pink Kindle: Books written by Authors in an Alternative Universe after their Counterparts Here Died". Not very pithy, but I'm sure we could come up with something.

I'm sensing some overlap with both time travel and alternative history (which would be fine by me).

The idea of supporting one Reader over another in the book club is not a good one. So please dump the idea of a pink Kindle because it's just not a good idea.

I'm sure we can go far afield with water. There are plenty of books with water in the title or something to do with water.

I like that one. We can do "alternate universe" or "what if" type books. Very nice!

Actually, in the Stephen King made-for-Kindle story UR, Hemingway was still alive and writing in an alternate universe. There were also works of Poe and Shakespeare unknown in this one that were available for those who owned a pink Kindle. The idea as it relates to the New Leaf Book Club would be to nominate stories written not by Poe, Shakespeare, etc., but by authors mudslinging* making a conscious and obvious effort to imitate their styles. I suppose Pride and Prejudice and Zombies would fit in this category.

* Rather than simply correct this swypo prior to making this post, I instead struck it out to show how much fun swypos can be.

Which seems to limit that theme to science fiction/fantasy.

"Alternate history" fits. I quite like Parallel lives as a theme. But, you could pick a book about a gymnast that does the parallel bars.
