I tried to restore partition table to another sd card using sfdisk and restoring each partition using dd. No success

It takes too much time to write 32gb image, only 5 of which is real data.

There should be another way to edit serial.

Haha, true! But the fact that the screen shows animated dots should indicate that there's nothing wrong with the screen per se, shouldn't it? Also, the Tolino has been inside the house for four days already, still exhibiting the same behavior.

@daskraken
You will most likely need to replace the built-in micro SD card. Sooner or later you will have to do it anyway.
But you can try to enter the recovery mode this way:
Connect to the charger (not to the PC!). Press and hold the power button for 10-12 seconds until the boot animation stops. Let it charge in this state for at least 30 minutes.
After that, disconnect the charger (mandatory!).

Now press and hold the bottom page turn button (bottom right). Also press and hold the power button. In general, keep both buttons pressed. After about 3 seconds, the power LED will light up and after 5-6 seconds it will go out. After it goes out, release both buttons. The recovery mode will load. Now you can connect it to the charger again and perform further actions.

Thanks, Waldy! I really appreciate your help. I'm gonna try entering the recovery mode with your instructions.

If it really comes to replacing the SD card: I read that you have to clone the current SD card, which is probably impossible, if it turns out mine is completely unusable. Is there another way to obtain the necessary firmware for my device? And do I need my serial number to "bake" it into this generic image? How would I be able to obtain it if the device is totally unresponsive? Again, thank you very much for your support!

Yes, first try to enter recovery mode, if it doesn't help, do as here:
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...5&postcount=23
When you remove the back cover you will see a sticker with the serial number, usually it is located on the Akku, but it can be in another place. The serial number has 8 characters and starts with 23......
Also, if you create your own image from a "defective" SD card, you will find your serial number as I wrote above using HxD Editor.
How to remove SD card see these topics about Kobo Libra 2, it may be useful:

I was now able to enter the recovery mode, but I don't really know what I did exactly. I tried the described procedure (holding down the page down and power button simultaneously) maybe 20 times and it never worked. The power LED just kept blinking. I think what eventually worked, was pressing the page down button, releasing it(!) and then pressing the power button. Or maybe I finally got the timing right. :-)

Anyways, the recovery screen shows various I/O errors when trying to wipe/factory reset the device. Given that the device is only a year old, I'll try having it refunded/repaired and if for some reasons this doesn't work out, I'll swap the SD-card myself.

Just wanted to follow up: My dealer (Thalia) had no replacement Tolino Vision 6 because they're apparently being phased out. I was offered a Tolino Vision Color for an additional 20 EUR, which I gladly took. Interestingly, they didn't even bother to take a look at my broken device.

Hi,

Waldy can you please send me a link for SD card image for the Tolino Vision 6 (motherboard model 37NB-E70P1M+6B2).

I'm stuck in the boot with an error message (app doesn't respond...). I opened the Tolino and removed the SD card but then the Tolino Doesn't even power up. Reinserted the SD card and the same error page keeps appearing.

I tried factory defaults but with no success. I tried inserting the new blank SD card and no success. Obviously there needs to be something on the SD card that Tolino even starts. So if its possible to get the SD card image I would be very grateful.

Kind Regards

Hi,
if you create an image from the original SD card and burn it to the new SD card, everything should work. I already wrote about this above.
Just in case, I sent you images for 32 and 64 GB cards in a personal message.

I am often asked in private messages, I will write here.
If you have Windows 11 installed, use the balenaEtcher program.
If a 32 GB image does not fit on your 32 GB card, take a 64 GB card and, accordingly, for a 64 GB image - a 128 GB card.
