The Beatles sang "All You Need It Love." But could love fuel a race car?

Plan Nine From Outer Space could not be remade. The beauty of it was that the actors were serious about their work. You could see it on their faces. They all had that countenance that said, "We're making us a MOVIE here." Attack of the Killer Tomatoes was another movie that frequently gets mentioned whenever really bad movies are named, but I never liked it because it tried to be campy bad. Plan 9 achieved the effect without trying.
I once threw a party at my house where we watched Plan 9 From Outer Space. Naturally I encouraged my guests to talk during the film. It was a rousing success. We laughed at the bloopers, shared our insights on behind the scenes goings-on, and had a great time listening to the unbelievably stilted dialogue. As a director and screenwriter, there are very few accolades for which Ed Wood was deserving, but one can hardly be denied: His movies were never boring. They all had great entertainment value, even if for reasons that were unintended. No, Plan Nine From Outer Space could not be remade. Where would you find a horror movie actor to die two weeks into filming only to have the rest of his scenes played by a dentist with a cape over his face? |

I tried to watch bad movies, it was a short lived experience for me. The scenes of Plan Nine that I've seen on youtube left me unimpressed. The "Garbage Day" scene again from youtube, which I showed to my cousin, left us all cold. Lastly I tried to watch a Godfrey Ho movie for its entertainment value. No such luck. Do you know why? It's because these examples are too good, and too professional from the viewpoint of a guy who has been watching Bollywood movies during his childhood. The really worst movies of all time could be summed up in movies that came out in India in the 80's. They were jawdroppingly amateurish and comical.
The South Indian film industry are the most removed from reality. They really believe that their superstar, Rajnikant, is the second most popular Asian actor, after Jackie Chan. The fans point out to this guy's cult following in Japan. It's like saying Ed Wood is a revered director. I think only the 'Oh my God' shot from Troll 2 drew laughs from me. That moment was really funny. |

I was checking off a checklist when I began to wonder: Why do we use check marks to check items off on a checklist? How did the check develop into the symbol that indicates that something has been completed or cleared?

Returning to the topic of Plan Nine From Outer Space, the term for the stand-in for Bela Lugosi in the movie is "Fake Shemp." The term originated with The Three Stooges. Shemp Howard had passed away due to a heart attack but the team still had four shorts to complete, so they employed another actor to stand in for Shemp. They used a combination of existing footage of Shemp and footage of the stand-in (shooting film of him in ways where you can't see his face) to complete the shorts (much like what was later used in Plan Nine From Outer Space with Bela Lugosi).

I was wrong about Wood using his dentist as the stand-in for Lugosi. He used his wife's chiropractor, Tom Mason, who was considerably taller than Lugosi.

When Princess Peach got kidnapped again by that sonofabitch Bowser, Super Mario, being the peach that he is, brought out a bag of popcorn and started munching.

Monty Python had a giant foot that would come down from sky and stomp things. What was the targeting system used to guide the giant foot to its target?
