A couple silly question

When books are imported into Calibre, the book directory is assigned a number. I take it this number is a sequential number corresponding to the order it was imported. Is there a way to just turn this off?

I have several books in my library that have more than one format (LRF,MOBI, PDF etc). Does Calibre differentiate between readers and only send the correct format?
