Is it possible to use WinterBreak to restore Paperwhite 3 (7th gen) to the original OS? (pre-5.x)

Thank you. I followed the steps up to and including 'disable OTA updates' (with last thing being 'Restore' in KULA) and managed to downgrade my PW3 to 5.14.2. However, I cannot downgrade to anything lower below that. I keep getting 'Update Error: 12'. I tried 5.8.x, 5.9.x, 5.12.x, and even 5.14.1 which should be just below 5.14.2.

PS: I re-installed and re-applied the hotfix after downgrading to 5.14.2, had to re-install KULA as it wouldn't open after dowgrade, and Removed/Restored OTA updates again. Nothing helps.

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!

I successfully downgraded oasis 3 to 5.13.6 using this method so it's weird.

This KUAL doesn't work for you?

Thank you for the reply, @juliazero. Mystery solved! All's I needed to do was run Downgrader in KUAL once again and I successfully downgraded to 5.8.5 Still, I really appreciate your replies, it definitely helped get on the right track.

To whom it may concern, compared to downgrading to 5.14.2, 5.8.5 was a total reset will all the files lost. At least on PW3, I could also skip the registration by powering down and rebooting if anyone's into that.

Has anyone tested if WinterBreak will persist after a 2024 Kindle Scribe is updated to 15.18.3?
