Auto-Page turning (PRS-505)

Hi guys,

Long time reader, first time poster.
My mother likes to use the reader but the mobility in her arms is limited. She would really appreciate a function such as one which would turn the page after X seconds. I noticed there have been a few posts about it, but not much interest, and I thought I'd chime in, just to check for any progress.

Regards,
I.J

The only device I know of personally which has auto page-turn is the Kindle.

You can do also with HANLIN v5 in TTS mode with or without listening (but keep head phone on)
But you can't set the delay time.

Yes, it's TTS which lets you do it on the Kindle, too, but the benefit of the Kindle's TTS is that you can adjust the reading speed, and hence customise the page turn delay.

Thanks for the suggestions. However, financially I cannot afford to buy another reader, after purchasing the 505. If I had only waited a bit more, I could have gotten the Kindle, which recently got free internet worldwide.

That's not entirely true. You can download books you buy from the Amazon store wirelessly in most countries, but you pay a $2 + tax premium to do so. The web browser, in most countries, can only be used to access Wikipedia. Nothing else.

Harry, quite a lot off topic but how do you decide what device to read
I see you have a collection of 7 devices now. One for each day of the week

Even I'm starting to think that I really do have too many. I'll probably sell at least a couple of them shortly.

Although it's not auto-page turning, Palm Reader software (for Palm OS handhelds) does have a related feature: the ability to continuously scroll the text of an ebook. You start the scrolling, and you can adjust how fast the text scrolls. It does pause for a moment after scrolling a page of text, and then continues.
