About purging many books

Imagine that you have opened several 100 books.

Is there anyway you can purge them all in one stroke? They are all in different folders.

If I delete the History-file I guess they will all disappear from History? But they will not be purged. Right?

If you wish to delete many files all at once I'd probably just use a regular computer.

(Certainly the way you've described it sounds a bit… destructive.)

Hmm, maybe you misunderstood me. By purging I mean to set the book to its default status (unopened). Not delete the book from the reader.

So the only way is to purge each book individually: either in KOReader or (with the computer) in each separate folder in the file manager?

I don't know what a "map in the file manager" would be unless you mean a directory/folder. It may be that if you delete the SDR file or folder you would accomplish the same as the purge function in KOReader, not sure it would work that way. This could be quickly done while your device is connected to your PC. There is now an effort to move such things into an SQL database. (Something I am leery of.) If implemented, the SDR approach would no longer be available.

The books with SDR appear differently in the File Browser listings and change back to match the others when "purged".

Luck;
Ken

I suppose @poire-z could be interested in something like that. Do you have any suggestions about how this could be presented?

Indeed, "Purge .sdr" should be no different than just deleting the .sdr folders manually. (Except that, however unlikely, you might delete files in the .sdr folder that KOReader would not — these probably wouldn't have been generated by KOReader.)

Is there? I think the general consensus is to use SQLite as little as possible.

Thanks Frenzie, good to hear. So far KOReader has managed to develop and even add many features, all without loosing track of its essential purpose. You guys have avoided the bloat and mission creep, that many software projects devolve into.

Luck;
Ken

I tend to open a lot of books just to take a peek. Therefore it would be nice to have an easy way to "reset" the History page through KOReader, (to get all books disappear from History in one move).

And purging... well it's not superimportant. But maybe such a reset could be combined with the books being purged? The downside is that books that you read for real will also be purged, unless you can exclude them in such a move.

An additional (computer) option is using the KoHighlights to select all the books that you want to "purge" and delete their sdr folders with a click, regardless of where there are inside your eReader's drive.
