Calibre can't see BeBook Neo

I apologise if this has been answered already, but I can't find it anywhere.

I just bought a BeBook Neo and installed Calibre to use it to manage my ebooks. However, it can't seem to detect the ereader. Here is the stuff that gets spat out in the terminal:

Code:
$calibre
link  hasn't been detected!
link  hasn't been detected!
Unable to open device <calibre.devices.hanlin.driver.BOOX object at 0xacafdac>
Traceback (most recent call last):

    self.open_linux()
  File "/usr/lib/calibre/calibre/devices/usbms/device.py", line 599, in open_linux
    %self.__class__.__name__)
DeviceError: Unable to detect the BOOX disk drive. Your kernel is probably exporting a deprecated version of SYSFS.
Connect to device failed, retrying in 5 seconds...
I checked the FAQ, but I do not have CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED_V2 set:

Code:
$zgrep SYSFS /proc/config.gz
# CONFIG_SYSFS_DEPRECATED_V2 is not set
CONFIG_ACPI_SYSFS_POWER=y
CONFIG_WIRELESS_EXT_SYSFS=y
CONFIG_RTC_INTF_SYSFS=y
CONFIG_SYSFS=y
As such, I'm completely stumped as to what the problem is. Any ideas?

Oh, I should probably mention that I'm using Calibre 0.7 (haven't yet upgraded to 0.7.1) on Gentoo Linux currently using the 2.6.33.2 kernel.

can your device be mounted in the operating system? Do you have support for USB mass storage devices in the kernel?

I have CONFIG_USB_STORAGE=y if that's what you mean (but the only sub-option enabled is CONFIG_USB_STORAGE_ONETOUCH).

I can see the device and mount it (I can't see the SD card though if that matters).

Can you open a ticket, I'll follow up there, as forum posts can get lost.

OK; I'll try it on another machine tomorrow and if it doesn't work I'll file a bug (though if it doesn't work on another machine it might be due to a hardware problem :s).

OK, I've solved the problem (this is what you get for custom-compiled kernels ). It's exactly the same situation as shown here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60329

In short: you also need to have:
Code:
CONFIG_SCSI_MULTI_LUN=y
enabled under Linux.

Thank you for all your help and Calibre kovidgoyal!
