Andrew
here you are a video tutorial:

part 1 - create your scribble (ok, you all know it)

http://youtu.be/-ffIFNO0rNw

part 2: Use jCrossSketch v.0.6 and convert!!!

http://youtu.be/McEs3c0N6Iw

Changelog of the version 0.6
* Release 0.6 beta
* Jbc: sorting pages correctly according scrible filenames.
* Jbc: changing the load method: select document (PDF) on your JBC
insted of hidden folder
* Jaj: fix class: now is compatible with newer version of Jarnal

Yes, if you wish you can export JAJ to a new PDF using Jarnal as I done in the last part in the second video.
You can also export it into HTML but I don't tried it yet.

Or if, for examaple, you have a frind that has your PDF and you want give him only your notes, you can even give him only the JAJ.

The process is reversible even do at the present moment don't work perfectly: you can modify scribble on PC with Jarnal and convert it for you JBC

Yeah, I've finally got it to work. I think I was going wrong by using jarnal.cmd where I should have been using jarnalannotate.cmd. I still don't really know the difference between the two.

There are 2 difference:

Jarnal.cmd:
Code:
  -Xmx192m -t templates/default.jaj
Jarnalannotate.cmd:
Code:
 -Xmx256m -t templates/annotate.jaj -b
difference:
  • the "-Xmx***" switch: it's a JRE switch to reserve memory: jarnalannotate has more memory assigned that Jarnal.cmd
  • template - use of different template (square line, single line, plain paper etc.)
  • the "-b" switch - open the file (if you give it as argument) as Background.

You have to check two things:

1) check that exists the file "default.jaj" under the folder "templates" in your Jarnal directory.
2) edit the jarnal.cmd and give more memory replacing "-Xmx192m" in "-Xmx256m"

Also you can use jarnalannotate.cmd: it is the same for what we need

You will need jdom.jar to compile it (jdom is not a project of mine).

For compile the program you can do:
Code:
cd jCrossSketch
wget http://www.jdom.org/dist/binary/archive/jdom-1.1.3.zip
unzip jdom-1.1.3.zip jdom/build/jdom-1.1.3.jar
mkdir ext_libs
mv jdom/build/jdom-1.1.3.jar ext_libs/jdom.jar
rm -r jdom jdom*zip
make all
You'll have:
  • jCrossSketch-0.6-bin.zip
  • jCrossSketch-0.6-doc.zip
  • jCrossSketch-0.6-src.zip

You can also download directly the binary of jCrossSketch using sourceforge:
