tethering KOBO

is there a way of tethering the KOBO ereader with a phone to get wireless access anywhere?

There is no official way, and as far as I'm aware, no unofficial way either. The best you can do is get one of those mobile hotspot routers for now. Though I'm hoping in the future we can run "custom firmware" on these devices that may allow that kind of thing in the future.

Well, if you had an original Kobo with some different Bluetooth software...

Or better yet, a WiFi Kobo with a Bluetooth chip added... (and software)

If your mobile phone can advertise itself as a wireless access point then your Kobo Wi-Fi should be able to associate with it.
