The Bone Track is the third in the Alexa Glock series by Sara E. Johnson. I had an ARC of this a while back and really really liked the forensics, and also the setting, although I found some of the personal relationships a bit angsty for my own taste. I had no idea about New Zealand's "Great Walks", and now I want to visit and go hiking, although perhaps on some trails a bit less structured than the Milford Track . The Bone Track is on sale right now for $1.99 in the US (discountable at Kobo) and £1.63 at Kindle UK.

A nature trek turns dangerous when the wilderness gives up its bones...

New Zealand's remote Milford Track seems the perfect place for forensic investigator Alexa Glock to reconnect with her brother Charlie, with whom she hasn't spent much time since they were kids. These were on my radar thanks to critic and author Gautam Bhatia, who has this to say about one the discounted novels:

A Death in Tokyo is the latest translation of Higashino’s work, and it has all the hallmarks that make his crime fiction so compelling: a focus on human psychology, tragic choices, and of course, the slowwww unraveling. This one is slightly different from his other work in that it is a genuine whodunit - the reveal comes as an actual surprise - but that only adds to the suspense. And as with other Higashinos, there are moments that move you to tears - something rare with hard-nosed crime fiction such as this.
